If I talked about all of the places I would like to scuba dive I could go on forever but this list is a few of my top scuba diving sites in the world I would like to visit. Included in the list is some of the best coral reef diving, best places to dive in shipwrecks, good dive sites for beginners and where in the world is the best to dive with incredible marine animals such as sharks, rays and dolphins…

1. Galapagos, ecuador

The Galapagos Islands are known for their hub of nature, biodiversity and wildlife and diving there is top of my diving bucket list. Diving in the Galapagos pretty much has everything – from schools of hammerhead sharks, sea lions, penguins, marine iguanas and more.

2. Silfra, Iceland

What a dream it would be to dive in between two continents! In Silfra, Iceland you can do this in crystal clear waters with up to 100m visibility. Divers go here to dive between the Eurasian and North American continental plates. The water is supposedly so pure you can have a drink of it whilst diving. Also, if you’re really lucky you could even see the Northern Lights in the same trip.

3. Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico

Mexico is a country that I have an endless list of dive sites I’d like to visit but one of the top ones Mexico has to offer is the Yucatan Peninsula. Yucatan has some of the best cavern diving in the world, with a huge system of caves and sinkholes called cenotes. Crystal clear waters with the light shining through – diving here is supposed to be magical and I would love to experience it.

 4. Tiger Beach, The Bahamas

I am incredibly interested and passionate about sharks: their conservation, behaviour, anatomy, everything. Tiger beach is the best place in the world to dive safely with stunning tiger sharks. The divers here have been diving with these sharks for years and have established relationships with them, you can even see them hugging the sharks! They are of course still insane predators who deserve huge respect. However, the work being done with the sharks at Tiger Beach aim to change the views of sharks as man-eating beasts as depicted in popular media and to show them as beautiful, affectionate and crucially important animals in the ocean.

5. Kona, Hawaii

Hawaii is a dream destination for many reasons, with many amazing dive sites on offer. However there is one in particular I would love to experience – night diving with manta rays in Kona. This site is home to over 200 manta rays and when divers go in for a night dive here and shine their torches above them from below, the plankton will be attracted to the light and gather there – and where the plankton is the mantas go! The idea of night diving and looking up to a big group of manta rays above you in the moonlight sounds like a dream come true.

6. Tonga

For me, Tonga is on my list as it is one of the few places in the world where you can commonly see humpback whales passing by during your dives. However, Tonga also boasts beautiful coral reefs, abundance of wildlife such as rays and sharks and cavern diving. So whichever type of diving you are looking for – Tonga has it.

7. Komodo, Indonesia

Komodo Island in Indonesia is known as one of the best dive sites in the world. It is known for stunning corals bursting with colour, and diverse wildlife such as many types of sharks and rays who will join you on your dives.

8. Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Bora Bora is a volcanic island in French Polynesia that is basically paradise to visit and to go diving. There is a lagoon in Bora Bora which is a great dive location for beginners or those nervous about going out in to the deep. You can also find some insane drift dives, diverse wildlife, large populations of sharks and some friendly pods of dolphins that will join you in the crystal clear waters.

9. The Red Sea, Egypt

The Red Sea is famous amongst scuba divers and snorkelers around the globe. There are brightly coloured corals that are resistant to bleaching and an abundance of marine life that inhabit these dive sites. You can also do some insane wreck diving! With all this on offer most divers have either dived here or have it on their bucket list!

10. Norwegian Fjords

North Norway offers divers the chance to go diving in the home of wild killer whales. As a big whale lover this has made my bucketlist. You could even catch a sight of the Northern Lights whilst you are up there as well!

Hope you enjoyed my bucketlist of the best diving sites in the world I would like to visit, comment below your own list of where you would like to dive!
